1-19-2009 PA Philadelphia 2100blk. Germantown -2nd Alarm Building
Crews were dispatched for a reported building fire in the 2100 Block of Germantown Ave at 9 p.m. Battalion 8 arrived and reported a working fire in a 3 story building placing 2 & 2 in service. Crews arrived and went in for an interior attack before being pushed out due to heavy fire and the buildings condition. Command struck the 2nd Alarm and ordered the evacuation tones at 9:20 p.m. Command reported heavy fire conditions on the 2nd and 3rd floor of a 75x100, 3 story building. Companies set up for defensive operations with Ladder Pipes, and 2 ½” hand lines. Companies were sent to the roof of each exposure with hand lines to prevent extension into the occupied buildings. Deputy 2 requested 2 additional squirts above the 2nd Alarm. Crews remained in a defensive mode. The fire was placed under control without any report of firefighter injuries. The Philadelphia Fire Department has the fire under investigation.
