3-8-2019 (Camden County) - GLOUCESTER TWP. - 61 Evergreen Ave. - 2nd Alarm Dwelling
Taskforce 84 was dispatched at 23:06hrs. for a reported dwelling fire. County communications were receiving multiple calls for a working fire. 8401 arrived and reported heavy fire from Division 2 of the A - D corner and struck the All Hands. Engine 88 layed a supply line, and prepared to go into service with a 2 1/2 in. line. Squad 86, arriving second due, secured a water supply and sent manpower to aid Engine 88's crew. Engine 82, Engine 842, Squad 62, and Ladder 82 all arrived in quick succession. Engine 842 established a secondary water supply and prepared to supply Ladder 82 if master stream operations were needed, while their crew and the crews of Engine 82 and Squad 62 stretched a 1 3/4in. line and began conducting a primary search. Fire was now through the roof, and as conditions rapidly deteriorated, a roof collapse was imminent. 840 pulled crews from the interior, struck the 2nd Alarm for additional manpower, and went defensive. After about an hour, the fire was placed under control, and crews remained on scene until just after 04:00 overhauling. The home was vacant at the time, and no firefighter injuries were reported. The fire is third multi alarm fire in as many weeks in Gloucester Twp., and currently under investigation.
