10-8-2017 (Camden County) GLOUCESTER TWP. Sicklerville Rd. near Dunlin Way - Fatal MVA w/Heavy Entrapment

Just before 17:00, units were dispatched for an MVA. Squad 85, EMS 80, and GTEMS BLS arrived and confirmed a two vehicle head on collision with multiple occupants trapped and seriously injured. Three helicopters and a rescue unit were immediately requested. Squad 85, Quint 85, Rescue 84, GTEMS, Winslow Twp. EMS, and Virtua Medics all went to work extricating and stabilizing patients for transport. Stations 86 and 62 were tasked with setting up the LZ's, with two at Timber Creek H.S. and one at Ann A. Mullen Middle School. Two patients were transported by ground to Jefferson Hosptial (Washington Twp.) after it was determined their condition was not suitable for flight, one by ground to Cooper Trauma, and two others by air to Cooper Trauma. One occupant was deceased at the scene, and three others succumbed to their injuries. Two were listed in critical condition at Cooper University Hospital. The cause of the accident is unknown at this time, and is under investigation by local and county authorities.
