5-14-2015 (Gloucester County) WESTVILLE - 309 Summit Ave - Dwelling

At approx. 1246 hours this morning, District 7 was dispatched for a reported Dwelling Fire in the 300 Block of Summit Avenue. Chief 701 arrived to find a 3-story multifamily dwelling with heavy smoke issuing from the upper floors and requested the All Hands box be struck. Engine Company 733 arrived shortly after and stretched a 1-3/4" water-line to the #2 floor finding fire involving 1 room. Ladder Company 736 arrived, placed ground ladders and began to vent the #2 floor windows. Crews had the bulk of the fire knocked down and negative extension into the attic space in a short period of time. Additional Companies performed searches, ventilation and stretched an additional hand line.
One occupant was transported to a local hospital by Westville BLS and Inspira ALS providers, for injuries sustained while attempting to extinguish the fire prior to calling 911, the resident was able to escape the home prior to FD arrival.
