2-9-2014 (Gloucester County) DEPTFORD - Oak Valley - 453 Westminster Road - Dwelling Fire - 2nd Alarm
On Sunday February 9th, at 1532 hours Battalion One of the Deptford Fire Department was dispatched to 453 Westminister Road for a Dwelling fire. Reports from the communications center were flames showing from a second floor window. Battalion Chief Hooper (9101) arrived on location reporting a 1.5 story wood frame single family dwelling with heavy fire in division C. The box was filled bringing resources from other Battalions from Deptford FD as well as Woodbury Heights FD and Wenonah FD. An initial interior attack was attempted by the crew from Engine 912 and due to heavy fire conditions, an evacuation was ordered. Once the fire was knocked down from the outside, crews were permitted to enter the structure to continue suppression. Ladder 926 arrived on location and vented the roof. The fire was placed under control at the 45 minute mark and crews remained on location for overhaul. The fire is under investigation by the Deptford Fire Marshal's Office and the Gloucester County Fire Marshal's Office.
