7-30-2012(Camden County)WESTMONT 95 Elgin Ave-All Hands Dwelling
At 0958 hours Station 15-1, BLS 1557 and Medic 44 were dispatched to 95 Elgin Avenue for a Dwelling Fire with reported entrapment. Squirt 15-1 and 15101 signed on radio at 1000 hours and were advised that Communications was receiving numerous calls on an occupant trapped on the second floor and Police were requesting an expedited response.
Squirt 15-1 arrived and found smoke showing from the second floor with an occupant hanging out of a second floor window. 15101 transmitted the "All Hands" bringing Squad 16 (Collingswood) as an additional Engine Company and Quint 1-1 (Audubon) as the FAST Company. Squirt 15-1 broke the crew in half and stretched an 1 ¾" hand line while the other members of the crew placed a 24 foot ladder to the 2nd floor to remove the occupant from the 2nd floor with assistance from Haddon Township Police. Ladder 15-1 arrived and placed ground ladders around the dwelling. Squad 16 arrived and stretched a secondary 1 ¾" hand line and went to the third floor. Squirt 15-1 then obtained a water supply by hand stretching to the hydrant at Cooper and Elgin. Interior crews reported a working fire on the 2nd floor bathroom with heavy smoke on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Squad 16 reported no extension to the 3rd floor and Squirt 15-1 reported all visible fire knocked down on the 2nd floor. Chief Medes then placed the fire under control at 1011 hours. Companies opened up and found no hotspots or further extension. The victim removed from the 2nd floor was seen by EMS. The scene was then turned over to the Haddon Township Fire Marshal's Office.
