1-20-2012(Burlington County)MT. LAUREL- Rick Van Sciver Funeral
Rick Van Sciver was a longtime Mt. Laurel firefighter, belonging to the Masonville Fire Co. He was also an EMT and served with the Masonville Emergency Squad/Mt. Laurel EMS. He also led the effort to restore the fire company's 1951 Seagrave tractor-drawn ladder truck; it was dedicated to him early last December. He died on January 15 after a long illness and his funeral was Thursday, Jan. 19. He was accorded an honor rarely seen: his coffin was lifted and secured to the main ladder of the Seagrave and that's how he was driven from the funeral home in Haddonfield in a procession that went past Mt. Laurel's fire stations.
Rick had been the Foreman of Sanitation for Mt. Laurel Twp. for 37 years. He was a volunteer fire fighter for 40 years and was a Life Member of the Masonville Fire Co. No. 1 of the Mt. Laurel Fire Dept. He also served as a volunteer member of the Masonville Emergency Squad (Now Mt. Laurel EMS), where he held the rank of Lieutenant and was a Life Member as well.
Obituary
Rick was a Life Member delegate to the NJ State Fireman's Assoc.; Pres. of the Mt. Laurel Twp. Relief Assoc., and Secretary of the Masonville Fire Co. Rick also chaired the fire company's Parade and Antique Ladder Committees.
