01-06-2011 (Gloucester County) WASHINGTON TWP 28 Windsor Ct. - 2nd Alarm Building
On Thursday January 6, 2011 at 5:45 A.M., a building fire was reported in Washington Township at 28 Windsor Court. Police arrived with heavy fire showing from an apartment building with possible people trapped. Command arrived and struck the 2nd alarm. One resident was seen jumping from the 2nd floor window. Companies went in to operation with multiple hand lines before being driven out of the building with heavy fire conditions. It was confirmed all occupants were out of the building. Crews set up for defensive operations placing 2 Ladder Pipes, 2 Deck Guns, in operation and multiple 2 1/2" handlines as the building was heavily involved. Crews remained on location throughout the morning as the fire was brought under control. There were no injuries to firefighters.
A resident from the apartment building was taken into custody and charged with Arson. Gloucester County Fire Marshals and the Gloucester County Sheriff's Office arson detection K-9 tested positive for accelerants in the occupants apartment. The Gloucester County Fire Marshals and Washington Township Police Department still have the fire under investigation. The fire damaged all 8 units in the building.
