8-21-2009(Camden County)VOORHEES 1207 Haddonfield Rd.-3rd Alarm Building
Companies were dispatched for a tree branch that fell on power lines and was sparking next to a building at 11:10 A.M. Camden County Communications advised responding units a tree brought down the wires but it was not sparking at this time. Engine 661 arrived and reported smoke from the building requesting the box to be filled. They reported a 2 story wood frame building with medium smoke from the rear door. Crews gained access in to the building to find heavy smoke coming from the basement. Crews placed a hand line in operation to find fire condition in the basement as well as in the walls. The All hands box was transmitted. At the 30 minute mark, Command 6600 reported one line in operation with crews venting the building requesting the 2nd alarm. Multiple lines were stretched as crews opened the 1st floor and the roof. One hour into the job command reported heavy fire out of the roof on Division A side of the building. Command struck a 3rd alarm. One firefighter was treated for chest pains. The fire was placed under control at 12:30. Occupants from the building stated there was a person working on trimming the tree on the side of the building when it fell onto the power lines. The Camden County Fire Marshals Office has the fire under investigation.
