7-23-2009(Gloucester County)DEPTFORD 1875 Little Rd.-Fatal All Hands Dwelling

Fire Crews and Gloucester County Life Support were dispatched for a dwelling fire at 6 p.m. FM 9 arrived on location with smoke showing from the rear of the property with confirmed people trapped. FM 9 tried to gain access in to the dwelling but had to evacuate due to heavy smoke. Crews arrived and stretched a 1 ¾” hand line to find fire in the back room. Crews located the occupant who was unconscious and burned and removed them from the dwelling. The pt. was transported to Cooper Trauma Center by ALS and BLS. The fire was contained to the bedroom with no extension. The pt. later died from their injuries at Cooper Medical Center. The victim was a quadriplegic. The fire has been listed as accidental. Gloucester County Fire Marshals have the fire under investigation.
