6-3-2009(Camden County)CAMDEN 401 Broadway- 2nd Alarm Building
A Camden City Police Officer notified Communications that a building was on fire at Broadway and Benson. He reported smoke coming from the building. Engine 1, Engine 6, Ladder 1, Ladder 3, Rescue 1 and Battalion 1 were dispatched for the structure. Battalion 1 arrived on location at 401 Broadway, and reported heavy fire showing from the 2nd floor of a 2 story taxpayer. He struck the 2nd alarm on arrival. Squad 7, Engine 8, Engine 10, Quint 1-1 (Audubon), Battalion 2 and Car 3 were dispatched on the 2nd alarm box. Companies arrived and went into operation with multiple hand lines as water supplies were secured and ground ladders were placed. Companies reported heavy fire conditions on the 2nd floor and in the roof area. Battalion 1 reported at the 10 minute mark that there was still heavy fire extending to the B exposure. Ladder 3 went into operation with a master stream as fire went through the roof. One firefighter was transported by Camden BLS for burns to the face. The Camden City Fire Marshals have the fire under investigation.
