6-13-2009(Camden County)CAMDEN 29th-High St's-2nd Alarm Dwelling
A Camden City dwelling box was transmitted for 29th and High Streets. Camden County Communications advised responding units they were receiving multiple calls for heavy smoke from a house. Battalion 2 arrived on location at 2902 High Street, and reported a 2 ½ story wood frame dwelling heavily involved requesting the 2nd alarm. Engine 11 arrived, secured a water supply and went into operation with a hand line. Ladder 3 placed ground ladders and worked from the bucket as Squad 7 secured a secondary water supply and Rescue Company 1 performed searches. Initial reports were of people trapped. Command all occupants out of the dwelling and accounted for. At the 10 minute mark Car 3 reported heavy fire conditions on the 2nd floor with extension into the D exposure. Ladder 3 went in to operation with the Ladder Pipe to knock down all visible fire in Division A. Companies opened up and knocked down the fire in the exposure. The fire was placed under control with no firefighter injuries. The occupant of the dwelling was treated for 2nd degree burns on his legs. The American Red Cross was called for the 6 displaced occupants of the dwelling. The Camden City Fire Marshals have the fire under investigation.
