4-18-2009(Camden County)CAMDEN 830 State St.-2nd Alarm Dwelling
1:14 A.M. a dwelling fire was reported at 830 State Street in Camden City. As companies were responding Camden County Communications reported they were receiving multiple calls for a fire in dwelling. Battalion 2 arrived and reported heavy fire through the roof from a 2 story middle of the row dwelling with extension into the attached dwellings. The 2nd Alarm was requested on arrival. Mutual Aid from surrounding towns were called. Companies were sent into the exposure to knock the fire down in the roof area. Ladder 1went to the roof to vent as Rescue 1 performed searches. Companies set up for defensive operations as the building had no floor in the rear and fire conditions worsening. Multiple 2 ½” hand lines were placed in operation from Division A and C. Car 3 special called and Engine and Ladder Company above the 2nd alarm. One firefighter was transported to the hospital after being injured on the job. The American Red Cross was called for 5 displaced residents. The Camden City Fire Marshals have the fire under investigation. This was the 2nd multiple alarm fire in less then 12 hours in the City of Camden.
